It all started in April 2019 when we saw a very good offer for the flight FRA-BOG-FRA in December 2019 and booked it without the possibility of refund. Our idea was to fly from Bogota to Ecuador for the Galapagos Islands. Little did we know that people normally booked such trips at least one year in advance. When we called Galapagos PRO and asked about the cruise in December, their first question was “December which year?”:) It turned out we hardly had any chance of getting a cruise in such a “short” notice. But amazingly enough Galapagos PRO were able to do it for us! They were nice enough to hold it for us for several days so that we could think it over (later we understood that there was absolutely nothing to think about and that it simply was our only chance:)). So this is how we found ourselves on the Galapagos Odyssey yacht about 8 months later, for which we are so very grateful to Galapagos PRO!

Galapagos PRO were very helpful preparing us for this trip – in a timely manner they provided us with a lot of useful information from what we would need there to the info on islands’ history and fauna and flora.

The yacht had absolutely everything we needed: good spacious cabin with shower, good food, great crew who worked very hard to make our experience on the Galapagos Islands smooth and comfortable, and wonderful, full of knowledge guide Jaime. We felt being taken care of every minute of our journey! We also enjoyed the company of other tourists around us (overall there were 15 tourists on the yacht, including my husband and I, from 19 to 70 years old). It is worth noting though that the yacht had enough free space, so it would also be ok for those not so much of company people.

Since we wanted to prolong our stay on the islands (the cruise lasted from Dec 19th till Dec 24th), we asked Galapagos PRO to arrange for us three more days there after we disembark the yacht. They booked a wonderful B&B hotel on San Cristóbal island (where the cruise ended), called “Casa Iguana Mar y Sol” with a very hospitable owner and host Luis, who, as it turned out, built all the wooden furniture, windows, doors, stairs in the hotel himself. The hotel has only 5 rooms, so thanks to this fact and to the very warm attitude of Luis we felt very comfortable and welcomed there.

Two day trips from San Cristóbal that we asked Galapagos PRO to arrange, however, did not go smoothly. For some reason the schedule that we received from Galapagos PRO did not reflect the actual state of things as the dates of the trips were surprisingly mixed up, and one of the boats was different from the one stated in the itinerary. Also, despite the fact that the trip to Leon Dormido started at about 8:00 in the morning, snorkeling did not begin until about 13:00 (since people from other boats were snorkeling there). I do not know if the time of day was the reason why we did not see many animals there that day, but I would rather snorkel earlier and spend the time on the beach after that (not vise versa like we did).

It is worth mentioning that the pricing we got from Galapagos PRO for our three extra days was very reasonable comparing to what the person can get, booking this hotel/day trips on the internet individually.

Jetzt sind wir wieder zurück in Köln. Was uns bleibt, sind viele tolle Erinnerungen an eine wunderschöne Reise, auf der wir unglaublich viel gesehen und erlebt haben. Was aber bemerkenswert an der gesamten Reise war, ist, dass alles vom ersten bis zum letzten Tag perfekt geklappt hat. Das betraf nicht nur die Organisation und Betreuung vor Ort sondern auch das von Ihnen zusammengestellte Programm, alles passte und hat uns begeistert. Dafür möchten wir uns hiermit bei Ihnen und allen anderen, die an der Planung und Durchführung dieser Reise beteiligt waren, nochmals herzlich bedanken. Wenn wir wieder in diese Gegend reisen, auf jeden Fall gerne wieder mit Galapagos PRO.

PS: Nur noch drei kleine Hinweise, die für andere Kunden von Ihnen vielleicht von Interesse sein könnten:

1) Das von Ihnen in Quito empfohlene Restaurant Café Mosaico scheint nicht mehr zu existieren. In jedem Fall war es, als wir es besuchen wollten, geschlossen und machte nicht den Eindruck, dass es noch betrieben würde.

2) Die Rukka Lodge in der Nähe des Flughafens hat uns gut gefallen, die Zimmer sind zwar klein aber ausreichend, das Personal war sehr freundlich. Schade war nur, dass montags alle auf dem Gelände befindlichen Einrichtungen und Restaurants geschlossen sind. Da die Lage des Hotels nicht sehr zentral ist, war es dann für uns ohne jegliche Spanischkenntnis nicht ganz einfach, abends ein passendes Lokal zu finden. Hat aber dann doch noch ganz gut geklappt, und wir haben lecker gegessen. Trotzdem wäre hier ein Hinweis in den Reiseunterlagen ganz hilfreich.

3) Geldautomaten auf Isabela: Entgegen Ihren Hinweisen gibt es auf Isabela mittlerweile Geldautomaten. In jedem Fall haben wir zwei entdeckt.

zuerst nur mal kurz ein Lebenszeichen von uns, dass wir gut wieder in CH gelandet sind. Wir dürfen zurück schauen auf sehr erlebnisreiche, traumhafte Wochen mit vielen tollen Begegnungen mit Einheimischen, neuen Freunden, ausgezeichneter Organisation von A-Z und super Angestellten auf Ecuador und den Galapagos-Inseln! Unsere Zeit in Ecuador und auf den Galapagos Inseln war voller guter Erfahrungen. Das Team von Galapagos Pro war von Beginn an sehr professionell – von der ersten Reiseplanung bis zur letzten Minute dort.

Alleine mit zwei Kindern zu reisen ist manchmal knifflig, doch die Mitarbeiter von Galapagos Pro haben sich immer um unsere Sicherheit gekümmert und stets daran gearbeitet, alle unsere Erwartungen bestmöglich zu erfüllen. We had such a nice experience in Ecuador and Galapagos. The Galapagos Pro staff was very professional from the beginning when it was only an idea, until our last minutes there. Traveling alone with 2 kids is sometimes not easy, the staff was always worried about our safety, pleasure and trying to stay very close to our expectations. It’s very comfortable to have people living in the places we visit. We know there is always someone who can help us in any case. Ich bin jetzt schon seit 2 Wochen aus den Galápagos zurück und wollte mich bedanken, dass Sie meinen Urlaub zu einem Traum gemacht haben! Eine Sache bereue ich, und zwar, dass ich San Cristóbal um ein Tag verkürzt habe. Sie hatten recht sowohl mit den 4 Tagen auf Isabela als auch mit dem San Cristóbal. Es war unvergesslich! Auch die lokalen Ansprechpartner (Alexander, Rebekka und Manuela) waren super nett und hilfsbereit.

Ich denke ich muss nochmal hin…. 🥰

Dear Galapagos PRO team,

we had a magical trip. Thanks for the good organization. We will give details in bullet points.

Quito:

• Wantara Suites is unique and Wolfgang a great host! Awesome!

• We would strongly advise against renting a car in Quito, the traffic is murderous. If we had taken the car, the second challenge in our eyes would have been the delivery at the airport, the rental car points are almost 1km away.

• Cotopaxi was great. As a pregnant woman, I would have liked to know that we would drive for almost 7 hours on unpaved roads. You need warm clothes and it is quite exhausting, but a great experience.

• Quilato Lagoon and Cotopaxi in one day is impossible, so do not recommend. In the end we could not see the lagoon.

• HOP ON / HOP OFF was very nice after initial difficulties finding, because there is no bus stop sign. Only traffic messes up the mood in between. Nevertheless, this tour is a must do.

• We went to the equator, that was great!

• The old town is really worth seeing, the best experience we had at the basilica. Very nice! Visit all churches!

• Taxi is best booked with UBER, the prices vary extremely.

• Our tour guide Edy was great! Thank you!

• Rukkalodge has a great restaurant, rooms were also very nice. The breakfast was quite sparse and unloving, does not match to the rest of the ambience. The only station where I could enjoy a non-alcoholic beer ;) good recommendation!

• Airport explanation regarding arrival in Galapagos was great! Has worked perfectly. Thank you!

San Cristobal:

• Manuala is very nice and Luis(?) From Casa Iguana, is the world’s best host. Unbeatable! Great hotel, mega satisfying breakfast and perfect location between city and beach!

• All excursions were great. Nice team and well-versed nature guides.

• favorite island!

• The harbor is the most beautiful of the three islands. So many animals!

Isabela:

• Rebekka took great care of us!

For the Cormorant we have a few thoughts, the hotel is not good.

• The room is a construction site

• Door handle broken in the bathroom

• Door trim to the bathroom loose

• bed broken at the side

• Night cabinet does not open

• Air conditioning needs urgent maintenance, replacement of filter and water, it stinks cruelly

• Right is being built

• The road is torn up

• At 7.15am the construction noise and loud talking at the lobby begins

Things that cost nothing for a good experience

• Control of the water tank

• Open the door in the morning

• put a table on the balcony

• More storage space in the bathroom

• Clean extremely dirty fly screen

• Remove soap from the previous occupant

• There is only one neatly accessible outlet in the bathroom

• Refill towels to the beach regularly

• The hotel is in need of major renovation after 2 years

The three employees (owners?) At the front desk are only on the laptop and really do not care about their hotel. As the head of a team, you have to lead by example. You could even remove the 1000 flies that hang on the walls, (not bad at all, the hotel is very open, you could at least remove them in the morning;))

The Comorant Beach Hotel is not well run and we advise guests not to stay there. We have always been looked after by such nice hosts on the rest of our trip who love their job and treated us incredibly warmly.

One senses, that from this hotel the maximum profit margin is drawn. There are no additional services at all: hair dryer, laundry etc.

When asked if we could do laundry would politely tell us that it is possible in the town center. No further explanation. We only received directions and an explanation about breakfast after repeated requests. We run a three-star hotel and are very aware of prices, room amenities and services to the guest.

We feel that the Comorant Beachhotel is nothing more than a modern hostel that has a huge renovation backlog without soul.

Please look for another hotel for your guests.

The location on the beach is good. That was a lot of fun. We were able to walk for hours.

• The Los Tuneles tour was great. Here the food on the boat was especially good.

• Bicycle recommendation was also great for us.

• Definitely recommend Concha de Perla and the small beach, we could swim with penguins. Unique!

• The restaurant Coco Sun must absolutely be recommended to your guests, best dinner during our entire stay – we went there three times!

Santa Cruz:

• Karin also looked after us wonderfully. Has given very detailed tips, she was great!

• Mathias and his wife are great! Best care. You can immediately feel that both WANT you to feel comfortable. Incredibly helpful! Thank you!

• Great apartment! Thank you

• The island was our “least” favourite. A little neglected.

• The trip was great too. The boat was by far the best! Great crew.

• The Bay Tour was not so exciting for us anymore but it was nice.

• Both nature guides did not have as much passion as the other guides.

• The driver to the airport did everything to perfection, his son even queued for us while loading our luggage! We could not thank him enough, please tell him again that it was a perfect farewell.

We think detailed feedback always helps. It is not a case of criticism (except Cormorant), but just our impression. Everything was brilliantly organized. The service during the booking was perfect, and this continued throughout our whole tour. We are very glad that we found you. We can fully recommend Galapagos PRO.

Ich durfte eine unvergessliche – leider viel zu kurze Reise – zu den Inseln Santa Cruz, Plazas, Floreana und Bartholomé mit Galapagos Pro erleben. Mein Ansprechpartner Yannik hat sich von Anfang an sehr engagiert um die Organisation gekümmert, hat alle meine Fragen beantwortet und war immer zur Stelle bei Unklarheiten oder Unsicherheiten. Danke Yannik für dieses tolle Erlebnis!

Sehr geehrte Frau Zwermann, lieber Yannik und liebe Rebekka,

nach meinem Urlaub fällt es mir diesmal besonders schwer, in den gewohnten Alltag zurückzukehren. Der Besuch bei Isabel war ein lang ersehntes Highlight für mich – ein Traumziel, auf das ich mich mehr als ein Jahr gefreut habe. Die Eindrücke und Erlebnisse dort haben mich tief bewegt.

Trotz einiger gesundheitlicher Herausforderungen war es der wunderbarste Urlaub meines Lebens!

Ein großer Teil dieses Erfolgs gebührt Ihnen und Ihrem Team von Galapagos-Pro. Ich plane meine Reisen normalerweise selbst, aber dieses Mal war ich überaus dankbar für Ihre außergewöhnliche Unterstützung.

Sie arrangierte sogar einen zusätzlichen Trail nach meinen Wünschen, und der glutenfreie Geburtstagskuchen für meinen Sohn war ein Traum. Die Geburtstagsdekoration vor unserem bezaubernden kleinen Haus war ein unvergessliches Erlebnis.

Das Haus selbst war ein Traum, direkt am Meer mit Robben und Blaufußtölpeln und bequemen Betten!

Sie haben ein fantastisches Team, liebe Frau Zwermann – meinen Glückwunsch!

Auch der Kontakt mit Ihnen war von Anfang an vertrauensvoll und angenehm – herzlichen Dank dafür!

Eine meiner besten Reisen. Eine perfekte Planung im Vorfeld und während der Reise durch Galapagos Pro. Die angenehme Begleitung von Beate Zwermann löste kleine Probleme sofort und konnte durch Ihre Erfahrung viel über Ecuador berichten Alle Guides, rund um Quito, Cotepaxi, dem Regenwald und den Galapagos Inseln waren absolut kompetent. Für mich war die Erfahrung beim Schnorcheln ein Highlight. Wunderschöne Eindrücke werden mich noch lange beschäftigen. Eine klare Empfehlung für Galapagos Pro.

We traveled through Ecuador for a total of three weeks, one week on the mainland and two on the Galápagos Islands. We traveled with a private guide from Quito over the Andes to Guayaquil. Quito is the highest capital city in the world (2800 meters above sea level). Quito is very beautiful and very large. From Quito we drove on the Panamericana. Our guide told us about the many volcanoes we could see on the horizon. Many are active. We visited the Cotopaxi National Park and climbed up to the José Rivas refuge at 4864 meters. You are not allowed on the summit, 5897 m, because another particularly devastating eruption is expected in the next few years. We drove to the Quilota lagoon and hiked along the picturesque crater rim at an altitude of 4000 meters. We drove for a long time to get to Chimborazo National Park. There we slept at an altitude of 4000 m in the beautiful Chimborazo Lodge. We could have stayed there much longer. We hiked up the slopes of Chimborazo to a mountain lake at an altitude of 5100 meters. In the highlands, we had many interesting and inspiring encounters with the locals. They looked very exotic to us and we to them. We got talking and exchanged selfies. In terms of animals, we saw lots of birds, e.g. caracaras and hummingbirds, as well as wild horses and vicuñas. Of course, we also encountered herds of alpacas and many sad, abandoned dogs waiting on the roadside for something to eat or a new master or mistress. We visited the oldest church in Ecuador (1534) in Balbanera and watched a stone nut (tagua) carver and a woman barbecuing guinea pigs. Near the devil’s nose we saw the remains of the former railroad. And we experienced many other things. Our favorite city was Cuenca with the new cathedral, the ethnographic museum and the Panama hat factory. From the modern city of Guayaquil, we flew to the Galápagos Islands. There we spent a week visiting numerous islands on a catamaran and observing the animals on land at close range (2 m distance). We took a closer look at the history of the island of Floreana and took a map back to Germany in Postoffice Bay in exchange for the two maps we had left there. We also went kayaking and snorkeling. Most of the time we were on our own, as each ship has a time slot for the Galápagos Islands. You have to stick to that. We saw lots of friendly animals: iguanas, Galápagos lizards, penguins, sea lions, crabs, turtles, giant tortoises, flamingos, albatrosses, frigate birds, blue-footed boobies, colorful fish, corals, starfish, sea cucumbers, sharks and rays. A sea lioness allowed us to watch her breastfeed her baby. But a blue-footed booby looked at us reproachfully and then started to scold us when we were too close to him due to the narrow path. But he didn’t fly away. Another blue-footed booby stole the food from a frigate bird that it was about to feed its young. When we snorkeled, we saw lots of colorful fish. Sea lions also swam with us, which was a bit scary. On land, we hugged huge cactus trees. The plant and bird life was very diverse and we often couldn’t remember the names. Finally, we stayed on the island of Isabela for a few days and enjoyed the atmosphere on the beach, in the water and at the huge volcano. We are now full of impressions of the people and nature and will always feel very connected to Ecuador.

Bereits bei der Anfrage, Vorschläge und Ausarbeitung der Reise wurde hier sehr professionell gearbeitet. Bei Rückfragen zu den Vorschlägen gab es ausführliche Antworten und alternative Ideen bei Änderungswünschen. Das Angebot und die weiteren Unterlagen waren strukturiert und mit Details sehr Ausführlich. Auch währen der Reise wurde wir immer wieder per WhatsApp auf die kommenden Aktivitäten informiert. Es gab auch gelegentlich Rückfragen ob alles o.k. sei. Die gebuchte Betreuung wie Transfer und Touren waren sehr Professionell. Bei Rückfragen oder ausfüllen von notwendigen Formularen gab es sehr schnell Hilfestellung. Ich kann das Unternehmen nur weiter empfehlen und würd sofort wieder mit GALAPAGOS PRO verreisen.

Wir haben über Galapagos-Pro eine wunderschöne Reise nach Equador und auf die Galapagos erlebt.

nachdem ich wieder zu Hause bin muss ich diese Reise noch aufarbeiten.

Vielen Dank an dich und dein Team. Ihr habt einen Schwaben der nur der Schwäbischen Sprache mächtig ist bestens versorgt.

Du hattest Recht sofort zu gehen und nicht weiter zu warten.

Für mich war das ein Traum. In den Hotels oft allein oder nur 2-3 Gäste. Auf der Angelito 5 Gäste dafür 8 Besatzungsmitglieder, bei 16 möglichen Gästen. Auf der Tapir Lodge die 40 Leute beherbergen kann allein mit einem Koch, einem Fahrer fürs Motor-Kanu und Reiseführer Kurt, für die 2 Tagestour zur Lagune und auf die Jose Rivas Hütte wandern auf 4 868 Meter wurde noch schnell Yannik vom Büro in Quito er ist vom Schwarzwald eingespannt sonst wäre ich mit englischem Führer und 2 Gästen allein gewesen. Für mich ein wirklicher Traum aber für die Unternehmer ein wirklicher Albtraum, bekommen sie wie sie mir sagten doch keinerlei Unterstützung vom Staat.

Ich hatte auch Zeit und konnte mit euren hängengebliebenen oder auch in Ecuador geborenen aber deutsch sprechenden Reiseleuten gute Gespräche führen. Sie haben mir das Land und ihre Situation sowie Lebensweise gut rübergebracht. Leider kommt so langsam eine Existenz Angst auf, was ich gut verstehen kann. Aber sie lassen den Kopf nicht hängen und ich wünsche ihnen alles gute für die Zukunft, mit vielen neuen Gästen von euch.

Was sticht heraus? Die Natur mit vielen Tieren sowie die Bemühungen diese Natur zu erhalten. Da muss man halt dann verstehen dass man sich an Regeln halten muss die Wege nicht verlassen 2 Meter Abstand zu den Tieren und den engagierten Naturführen zuhören. Ich habe zum ersten mal geschnorchelt war überrascht wie gut es ging bin Fischen und Schildkröten ganz nah gekommen und konnte tolle Aufnahmen machen. Sogar ein ca. 3 Meter langer Hai ist drauf.

Nochmals Danke an das gesamte Team für diese schöne Reise.

Wir sind im Februar und März 2031 acht Wochen lang individuell durch Ecuador gereist. Galapagos PRO hat uns die Reise und den Aufenthalt samt Kreuzfahrt in den Galapagos vorbildlich organisiert. Dank ihren lokalen Ansprechspartnern waren wir nie ganz auf uns alleine gestellt. Sehr empfehlenswerte Agentur

Unserer Aufenthalte in Santiago, Osterinsel, Quito Galapagos waren mit den Reiseleitern gut organisiert.

Es gab nur ein kleines Missverständnis bei der Abholung vom Flughafen Quito zum Hotel bei der Rückreise.

Alle Unterkünfte und die Ausflüge sowie Stadtbesichtigungen waren sehr gut aufeinander abgestimmt.

Schwierig war nur die Flugverbindung zwischen Deutschland und Südamerika. Auf der Hinfahrt wurde der

Anschlussflug nach Chile im Madrid verpasst, Wir mussten bei mitternächtlicher Ankunft in Madrid einen ganzen Tag dort verbringen, der fehlte uns beim Aufenthalt in Santiago. Beim Rückflug war eine Direktverbindung von Quito nach Deutschland offenbar nicht möglich. Es ging nur mit einen 8 stündigen Aufenthalt über Lima. Obwohl wir Business Class gebucht hatten, wurde uns der Zutritt zur Lounge am Flughafen Lima zunächst verwehrt, nach mehrfachen Protest auf 3 Stunden Wartezeit begrenzt. Die Lounge war leer, das Angebot sehr sehr mäßig, so dass ein Aufenthalt dort nicht empfehlenswert für Fluggäste der Iberia ist.

Leider sind die Flüge zu der Osterinsel und zu den Galapagos Inseln immer nur vom Festland des jeweiligen Staates möglich (d.h. keine Direktverbindung zwischen Osterinsel und Galapagos wohl aufgrund der schwierigen politischen Beziehungen zwischen beiden Staaten- aber leider sehr zu Lasten der Umwelt (wesentlich längerer Flugstrecke und damit Einschränkungen der Besuchsmöglichkeiten innerhalb der beiden Länder)
