Fundación Guayasamin  – This is a museum dedicated to displaying artworks by Oswaldo Guayasamin, one of Ecuador’s most acclaimed artists of all time. His residence located near the museum is also worth a visit. (Duration: Half day)

TelefériQo – This gondola ride takes you from the outskirts of Quito up 3050 metres to Volcano Pichincha. Hiking to the summit is also possible upon alighting. (Duration: full day)

Basílica del Voto Nacional – The Basilica of the National Vow is one of the few churches in the world that is entirely funded through tax. There is a café in the tower where you can enjoy a glass of wine while taking in the panoramic view of the city. It is also the biggest neo-Gothic basilica in South America (duration: 1 hour)

Mercado Santa Clara – This market offers every fresh produce you can find throughout Ecuador as well as goods and handicrafts from indigenous markets. There are also cooked food stalls where you can have your breakfast and lunch. The market sells everything from fruits, herbs, vegetables to household items. It is open daily in an indoor hall. Mercado Central – Located at the edge of the historical city centre, Mercado Central is a place where they sell absolutely everything and anything you need (sometimes not)! Even if you do not intend to purchase something, it is a great place to meet locals and interact with them. (Duration: half day)

Mercado Artesanal – This is a great market to get souvenirs, especially if you are not traveling to other places in Ecuador. Here is where you can haggle to your heart’s content! (Duration: 2 hours)

Quito Botanical Gardens – Located in the north of Quito, the Botanical Gardens provides a great introduction to the amazing and exotic flora in Ecuador. We highly recommend having a look at their splendid orchid garden. (Duration: half day)

Yaku Water Park Museum – This exciting water park is the perfect place for families with children. The museum is located where the Incas used to perform their ceremonial baths. (Duration: half day)

Guapolo – It is a district in Quito with a wonderful blend of art and history. It has an impressive 17th century monastry, a rather alternative art scene as well as narrow winding streets with shops and cafes. Guapolo is best discovered with a tour guide who can show you less known places and hidden gems! (Duration: half day)
