Barrier-Free Tours in Ecuador & the Galapagos

Barrier-free tours to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands.

Travelling to Ecuador and the Galapagos can be a challenge for those with limited mobility and there is surely room for improvement in this area for the country. Nevertheless, there are hotels and lodges in Ecuador which offer special rooms for those with disabilities. There are also many accessible places of interest that you could visit. We highly recommend travelling with a tour guide where a special vehicle will be used to explore beautiful Ecuador. Some of the amazing places you can visit include the Andes highlands (Avenue of Volcanoes), the Amazon region around Tena, the coast at Puerto Lopez and Quito. One of the rainforest lodges offers rafting on Rio Napo as well as bringing guests to explore the jungle with a special vehicle.

Island Hopping in Paradise

For those with disabilities, island hopping is probably the only and best way to explore the magical islands.  There is currently no cruise in the Galapagos Island with rooms equipped with enhanced accessibility and the paths in remote islands are unpaved and therefore extremely inconvenient for wheelchairs.

However, there are other amazing islands that you could visit such as  San Cristóbal Island and Santa Cruz Island without having to worry about missing out. The capital of the Galapagos, Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, located on the southwestern coast of San Cristóbal Island, has over 500 Sea lions roaming about the city! You can also find marine iguanas lounging on the promenade with pelicans and the blue-footed boobies close by. These are only some of the many wildlife that you will get to come into close contact with! You will also get to visit the interpretation centre and interact with the amazing marine wildlife in the Galapagos using special kayaks!

On Santa Cruz Island, you will travel to the highlands, visit the Charles Darwin Station, enjoy the magnificent view of the twin crater and a legendary fish market. Depending on your physical condition, visiting remote islands might be possible. If your travel dates are flexible, you can join a group tour. For private tours, we suggest booking a nature guide who can accompany and help make your trip a smooth and enjoyable one!  Check out the details of the tour below!
