From 30. July 2018, the Galapagos Seymour Airport (GPS) will be offering bus transfer services to Itabaca Channel and the harbour of Baltra Island. The services are provided by a private operator which aims to modernise and improve transport infrastructures on the Galapagos Islands. Two new buses have already arrived from the mainland and they are awaiting another 4 new buses. In the meantime, old busses will be used to serve travellers on behalf of the airport.
New Prices for Transfers
With the new changes, the transfers are subjected to a charge of 5 US-dollars. Residents living on the Galapagos Islands are exempted from this. Tickets are available for purchase from ticketing counters located in the airport and at the Itabaca-Kanal. There are special discounts and group tickets for groups and cruise passengers. However, at the moment, special priced tickets are only available for purchase through cruise providers or tour providers like Galapagos PRO. Online booking is still currently being worked on.
With this new regulation in place, long queues at the bus ticketing counter can be expected. The buses depart at very specific timings depending on the arrival and departure of flights at the Seymour airport.
